Botany (ecology, geography, physiology, systematics, general botany)

Plant ecology. The main objectives of the ecological projects are to study the dynamics of plant populations and to identify the controlling factors at their latitudinal and altitudinal limits.

Physical Geography (incl. Quaternary Geology)

Geomorphological processes. The Abisko region is since 50 years a centre for research within process geomorphology, sediment budget studies and chemical denudation. Recent work within the geo-science group has shown the importance of extreme events for the periglacial landscape development.

Meteorology, climatology, Geophysics

Meteorology. The meteorological projects deal with recent climate changes in the region, and also with local variations of the microclimate in subalpine and alpine ecosystems.
