Administration
Abisko Scientific Research Station is operated year round and belongs to and is administered by the Swedish Royal Academy of Science. Activities at the station are supervised by a director and an elected board representing the biological and geoscientific disciplines, as well as nature conservation, education and the local administration (city of Kiruna). The permanent consists of scientific and technical personnel.

Main facility
The station consists of new or recently renovated buildings and is kept open throughout the year. The station has a library with limited number of geo- and eco-science journals and a range of relevant textbooks. All of the station's computers are networked and access to email and Internet is provided. Access telephone, fax and copy machines is provided. At the station there are two lecture theatres that together host almost 100 guests. Abisko Scientific Research Station is reached by car, bus or train. Within one hour car journey there are two airports, Evenes in Norway and Kiruna in Sweden.

Subsidiary facilities
In addition to the main station, 7 small field stations located in different vegetation zones constitute parts of the station. In the subarctic mire Stordalen the cabin Stordalen Mire is located. At the Stordalen railway stop is also a cabin. Jieprenkiedde is built near the northern shore of Lake Torneträsk in a dense birch forest. Lullihatjårro is situated approximately 70 m below the local tree-line. Latnjajaure is situated well above the tree-limit. Another cabin is situated in Kärkevagge ~20 km from the main station, in the low alpine belt. There is a cabin in the neighbouring valley to Kärkevagge, Låhktavagge.

Major Field Sites
Paddus, ANS Reserve. At Latnjajaure, ITEX (International Tundra Experiment) are running experiment and other investigations.
